Even the oval-bodied 'carpenters pencils' gave the same result...and I made that fascinating discovery purely by accident! So I carefully placed all the freshly sharpened pencils in the special holder on my desk, arranging them on order of graphite density [as anyone would],then put the shavings carefully into my front-opening fire. Wow-WHAT an eventful night!
A boring but nevertheless true story.
Did you know that carpenter's pencils are that size and shape for a reason? Apart from preventing the pencil rolling away, the pencil is exactly half an inch wide by a quarter of an inch thick and so can be used as a measure of those sizes should the need arise. They can also by sharpened in a variety of ways to perform different functions.
Just another snippet to regale (bore) your grandchildren with. Remember. You heard it here first.
