In answer to the OP I've never had the urge to read the Bible from cover to cover. I tried when I was very young and dozed off in the second book. But in my more religious phases I used to like to read through the Wisdom of Sirach from time to time, or Psalm 23 or Corinthians 13 if I was feeling down.
