I decided to look up the origin of Sweet Fanny Adams. I wish I hadn't now as it refers to the diabolical murder of a young girl in the 1800s. The black humour of sailors refered to tins of mutton as Sweet Fanny Adams meaning no meat at all. The phrase now means nothing at all. Poor little Fanny
