That's good to know Wrinkly - if legumes form part of your diet, would that help to prevent stones as well do you think?

Karen I seem to have changed the subject matter somewhat, so I will answer your question and take this subject along with gallstone disease to the health forum,
Yes I believe a dose of legumes a day with help anybody, if you nip to the health forum and read the ladies link it will come clear.
All my family are going on a daily dose, before it happens is obviously better than waiting till it happens.

Just remember folks - baked beans and their associated 'side effects (Naval beans) are also part of 'legume' family

There are 13,000 types of legumes in the world, as Geoff has said navvy beans are reckoned to be the healthiest for us.

black beans and rice cures many of my headaches
I believe the frijoles negros are far more superior in taste and benefits than 'navy beans'
Black beans are high in folate (256 mcg), iron (3.61 mg), magnesium (120 mg), and phosphorus (241 mg); they are also a source of zinc (1.92 mg), niacin (2 mg), and thiamine (.42 mg) - based on 1 cup portion size
