Pats darlin' - George was my Father, - hence my reference to 'Dragon' (my Mother) throughout these threads.

Re: Should voting be compulsory?

Some of us live in constituencies that are never going to change we have been Conservative here for as long as I have been eligible to vote. Any vote for another party doesn't make a jot of difference. I can very well understand people not bothering if they cannot change anything.

Julie darlin' - that may not necessarily be true anymore. There are many people (even within the Tory Party) who are so disillusioned with Cameron that the sitting MP might just get booted out at the next general election if enough of those disenchanted voters choose to exercise their vote.

Well I hope I live to see the day the conservatives here didn't feel quite so complacent. It makes MPs lazy if they know they are untouchable.

Your Post made me remember a picture card I saw about MPs.

Lol though imagine having an MP who looks like the latter before and after he just knows he will still have his job no matter what.

I think you are in the minority?

clearly compulsory voting ensures much higher turnout - how each voter feels and performs on the day is up to them! - but as has been demonstrated on several occasions, when you tell the British that they have to do something compulsory they lose their rag in a most unreasonable way!
