Well, I look at it this way... if I can't laugh about it once in a while, I'd let it put me in a strait jacket.

Re: Question for the ladies who have gone through menopause

I was put on HRT when I first had menopause symptoms, as both my parents had osteoporosis that affected their spine.

Great side effect of disappearance of the hot flushes and night sweats.

Seriously bad side effect of blood pressure going through the roof, so HRT stopped, sharpish!

Sadly, 10 years later I still get occasional night sweats and, more seriously, my blood pressure never recovered and now has to be controlled by drugs.

I would never recommend anyone to start HRT without an extremely good reason.

Having read what everyone has said, yes I wish it could be as easy for all of you as it was for me.
My eldest daughter is 47 and hasn't had a period for 4 months, so she is keeping her fingers crossed this is the end of it.

That's too bad, Deb

I'm already on BP meds, so I don't need to make it worse. Even my doctor told me I shouldn't consider HRT unless it's something I'd have to take for health reasons. And night sweats/wacky periods aren't enough to get me to do it. I've already accepted the fact it's just something I have to live with, but hearing about others' experiences helps me. Maybe not physically, but mentally.

Hope she gets as lucky as you did. I went 3 months without a period and assumed it was over, but it wasn't. Blast it.

I had virtually no symptoms at all. I have used soy products since my early 20's and wonder if that may be the reason.apparently Japanese women have little or no symptoms which may be due to their soy rich diets.

Re: Question for the ladies who have gone through menopause

I have to say I think I have been very lucky so far, the only things that I have noticed for me is that I hardly ever sleep, so annoying as I am tired and my emotions are all over the place.

If this is all I get I will take it.
