Put in a good session at the gym, that's about it today really.

Re: What have you done today to make you feel good?

Well, I think I made a little old lady feel good....

I was at the garden centre buying some bulbs. I dropped the bulbs at the till, so kept a lady waiting who was behind me.
So I smiled and said something silly, as I do.
She was one of those 'cold' types, heavily made up and full of that 'I've got money' touch.
She was not amused being kept waiting.

When I went outside there was this delightful elderly lady, who was quite small, but looking really mischievous with her finger in her mouth and leaning on her stick.
(Actually I thought this could be our Mups years on with the look the lady had in her eyes and her finger in her mouth, waiting to get up to mischief ).

Anyway, I couldn't resist going up to her and saying she looked like she was about to do something mischievous.
She laughed and took my hand saying she was 99 years of age. She was just one of those people you get drawn to.
Anyway, we had a giggle and I remarked that she didn't look her age.

Then a voice said...'Oh, hello again'.
Yes, it was THAT sourpuss woman behind me at the till. She looked at me as if I was muck.
The elderly lady said 'This is my daughter'.

So I said to sourpuss 'Your mother was just telling me she is 99 years of age!'

Sourpuss said 'Tut, of course you aren't 99 mother, you're only 93'.

The lady looked at me with a sad little smile. So I gave her a hug and she said thank you with a look that seemed to say 'here we go again'.

Her daughter obviously didn't like her and thought her a pain to be endured.

I hoped I took the tension away a little for the lovely old dear.

(PS If you read this Mupsy, it's a compliment, honest )

My leg is a problem from time to time, very seriously injured in 1989, 6 operations and on crutches for years, compulsory medically retired in 1991, returned to work, part time in 1993.

Loads of hard work, but got there, from crutches, to two sticks, to one stick, to a brace to nothing,

The leg is an irritation, nothing more really, occasional use of the leg brace, having to drive an automatic.

The last incident with the leg was not good, but it will resolve itself, it just takes time and effort, I have plenty of both.

I have various bits of metal inside me, the Aortic scan showed up a problem with one of the bits having moved.

It is a problem, wait and see what the experts say.

I am an independent git, I am determined to get through this.

I will.
Thanks for the reply Swims, nice to know folks problems, helps understand better.
My life has sort of mirrored yours, industrial accident 1974 and all downhill since.

Good luck with continued recovery.

Oi Miss Pesta, I just read your post. As if I'd get up to mischief.

I love old people like that poor old soul you met. I'd have given her a hug too.

Listen you two! I meant the odd swear word that slips out now and then. What on earth did you think I meant??
