Re: Brexit and the EU
Just a thought, no hard border, no line in the Irish Sea, has anyone thought about the Isle of Man aligning itself with the EU instead of with the UK under protocol 3 and acting as a Port or centre of compliance and import/export checks.
The IOM would have to be compensated generously for the residents essentially loosing part of their democratic independence and rights but a billion pounds year goes along way on an island with 85000 population. A 10 year guaranteed agreement and annual payment regardless of how long it takes to resolve the Irish issue would allow massive investment in infrastructure for the Island including a deep port.
That sort of money is very realistic to the UK compared to the costs of a hard Brexit or no Brexit and starting the chaos again.
Like I said just a thought.
