Re: Interesting Stuff

This is not a painting — it’s a picture taken by National Geographic photographer, Frans Lanting in Namibia’s Namib-Naukluft Park. Lanting took this extraordinary picture of a small grove of camel thorn trees against a red sand dune (dotted with white grass) reflecting the early morning sun. Absolutely no Photoshop was involved!

This waterfall stops over-height trucks from going into the Sydney Harbour tunnel, the stop sign is reflected off a wall of water.

Re: Interesting Stuff

The pheasant featured in this photo was the subject of one of the many very weird experiences I have had throughout my life.

There was a large riverside meadow next to our previous property, owned by a local farmer. I often used to have walks through it as it was a public right of way. The farmer bred pheasants for the shoot, which took place in the meadow.

Not long before we moved to our present home in 2012, I went for a walk in the meadow and was astonished when a pheasant accompanied me! Normally pheasants scatter to the four winds when humans approach them! Not only did the pheasant walk with me, it kept up a conversation in pheasant speak! I was gobsmacked to say the least! Anyway, when I arrived home it sat outside the French windows for at least 30 minutes or more, eventually I took this photo of it, for which it to deliberately pose!

A few days later I went into the meadow again and I encountered a flock of pheasants who scattered as one would expect them to do. However, from the far side of the field my pheasant came running towards me, had a little chat before joining its mates.

There was a shoot a few days later, and I never saw it again. It would be a shame if it was one they bagged.
