In Italy we had an Ariston washer/drier for 9 years from new. Sold it on when we returned to England. Then V bought a Bosch washer and Comet's own brand drier. Those lasted 14yrs and still going so we left them behind when we moved to Worcester. Bought new Bosch washer and drier as soon as we moved in in Worcester and left those behind when we moved here last November when we bought Blomberg instead (Bosch out of stock at our local Euronics shop). These seem to be working OK.

I don't know exactly what it does, but that purple coloured knob looks rather scary.

Women can be scary too. Perhaps it's their purple knobs?

I remember as a toddler we had an electric clothes boiler. Tap on the front to empty the water out, big switch on the side. Hinged lid on top. That was it. It was more than most people around us had.
