He/she then makes the decision that he/she thinks will be best for the organisation despite possible opposition!

What a patronising post.
We are certainly not staff and it isn't our place of work, it has nothing to do with that type of situation as far as I'm concerned.
I also agree with others who say what is the point of asking our opinion if it will not be listened to? Is it just courtesy, knowing the decision has already been made?
If there are a couple of people 'for' it and 99 against, the answer seems obvious to me.
