I knew full well that he had not been sitting there on the outward journey. Of course, I said nothing as I knew the crowd that had bagged the back seat would soon suss out who he was. Sure enough, they did, the driver was called and he was escorted off, no doubt to try his luck with another coach that would not be so full.

Even back then, I recall it was routine for any illegals caught after reaching Dover to be interviewed, given some money, told to attend an interview at a later date and sent on their way! Of course, hardly any ever went back to be interviewed, as the authorities must have known.
Yes. The mass illegal immigration into this country is very much the fault of our own authorities.

Why? I suggest one of two things:

Our leaders are afraid of criticism by the do-gooder fraternity.

They are afraid of sending them back across the Channel to France - don't want to upset our Frog friends!

I must admit that I haven't followed every minute of every broadcast about this incident, but no-one seems to have made the simple and obvious point that the best way to avoid being frozen or suffocated to death in a shipping container is not to get into the thing in the first place

Who put them in the trailer? Who turned on the refrigeration unit before the 10hr ferry trip? The young Irish driver picks up the trailer and less than 30 min later calls for the emergency services. Who gets arrested for murder?

It's the same thing with rubber dinghies crossing the Channel.

I suppose the main difference is that once you're half-way across, the Border Force taxis will bring you the rest of the way.

As others have said, the important thing is to protect our Borders'

Theses were just migrants, they could just as easily have been Terrorists.
