Newgate Diaries it is. They're a collection of works taken from the records of Newgate Prison from the 1780s to around the 1830s and give a vivid and detailed account of the crimes carried out and the mostly severe punishments given.
The diaries written after 1812 were used as the basis of a book (The Diary of Convicts executed since the year 1812 inclusive at Newgate) written by the Chaplin of Newgate. If you can stand the flowery prose of the day, they make fascinating reading.
