It's strange the soil here, the clay isn't that solid near the surface, ie I have to dig a way to get the clay, but the lawn is dreadful. I would imagine the clay's at the top ie just under the grass. It's not water logged as in standing water, but constantly damp and full of fungi.
Not good when one is sensitive to moulds and fungussy things
