Over 50s Car Insurance

Do you guys used dedicated over 50s type insurances? Are they really much cheaper than normal insurance quotes - or do you find normal companies offer you a good deal anyway? Or is it just one big marketing ploy!

Re: Over 50s Car Insurance

i don't know about dedicated +50 companies but Azz you would be amazed at how cheap insurance is for us unblemished over 50s. We have a fairly high spec, fairly swish drop-top (my Ohs present to himself after years of hard work and self denial) and the fully comp insurance is only a little over £200 pa.
I feel rather sorry for youngsters in beat up Civics, Saxos etc who have to pay well over £1000 for their first year's insurance. C'est la vie I guess.

Re: Over 50s Car Insurance

Out of curiosity I asked for quotes from the dedicated 50+ ins. companies. I spoke to three or four and all of them were more expensive than what I was paying with my present co. They're not all what they're cracked up to be.

Nearly time for me to do my annual check - car insurance (and household insurance) both due end of August.

I am with an over 50s this year (Saga), I chop and change companies each year to take advantage of the sign up and on line discounts for new customers .

Re: Over 50s Car Insurance

Don't you think it's a bit off though? We check every year and generally find that the same company that we may currently be with quotes a lower price online than the renewal note they send out. So we cancel the policy and take out a new one - this has happened 3 years running now. What a waste of paperwork!

I always compare and go with the cheapest, it wasn't an over 50's policy, I also took out breakdown cover with them which was cheaper than my RAC and was pleasantly surprised to find out it also covered the caravan.
