French Prostitutes

Happened to hear on the radio today that the French government has brought in a new law making it illegal to pay for sex, I assume that includes women also. 800e fine.
This for me seems a very heavy handed law that will never work and a breach of peoples human rights. If it is meant to reduce sex traffic by gangs, it is a weak idea in my opinion and not the answer.
So what now, will the French working girls be flooding the UK looking for work?

I agree Patsy, but state registered brothels so the country gains from a lucrative business.
I think this service should be available to women as well.
Apparently prostitution has saved many a marriage.

its one of the oldest professions isn't it, so will only put it further underground putting some women/men in even more danger, what a utterly stupid law

I'm not sure about this subject. Is prostitution legal here then? I didn't think it was.

I thought the government just turned a blind eye to it.

I guess the police have more urgent matters to attend to though
