How Many Of Those Booze Bottles Do You Actually Use?

At the moment we have 13 bottles of assorted spirits and yet we only drink whisky or rum on occasion.

The rest are "just in case" bottles that have been sitting half or almost full for years. Company might want to try was the excuse for buying.

I think one is Creme de Menthe at least 10 years old, would it even still be good?

Creme De Menthe I'm not sure about - I would pour it out.

I was thinking it might be good for rubbing on the chest if you had a cold

I have goodly stash of spirits too including whisky, gin, Amaretto, Raki, Curacao, and other alcoholic mixers and liqueurs. I seldom drink these days but it's nice to have a few good quality malts in just for that special occasion.

It has a spirit alcohol in it, it can't 'go off' as others are suggesting. The same goes for any othet 'spirits' or wine you might have.

Joe's right Creme de Menthe doesn't go off, neither does wine if unopened although once opened it can quickly go bad.

I just looked it Creme de Menthe up, this is what it said:
Store in cool, dry area; keep tightly closed when not in use. Once the bottle is opened, the contents may begin to evaporate slowly and some flavor may be lost over time, but the alcohol will remain safe to consume.

We have a bottle of sherry, of which I have a small glass three times a week, and a single malt whisky of which my husband has a small glass on a Sunday.

It's good to keep Sunday special.

My husband is on a lot of meds so has to be careful where alcohol is concerned, not that he has ever been more than a very moderate drinker, like myself.

Re: How Many Of Those Booze Bottles Do You Actually Use?

I've emptied my drinks cupboard - Sherry - Baileys - Pernot - Brandy. All drink I got in for Christmas and were hardly touched.

When I had a bad virus during January & February I had a fancy for something warming to throw down my throat before bedtime. I don't think I would have nothered otherwise - my usual drink is vodka/tonic.
