Re: Leisurely Scribbles (part 5)

This is apropos of sfa...sorry to butt in,chaps and chappette...
BUT - I've been wanting to try ANY mobile phone that wasn't made/marketed/owned by one of the major players. Y'know the ones....right...so,on a whim,I ordered a phone called 'ulefone power 2' as it has creditable reviews...and by JIMINY it deserves them! I've had it on the desk here for several days as other things have taken my time-but having finally got round to trying it-its amazxing! [but without that 'x']
310GB of storage...[and me with three photos...tut] 4GB of ROM [more than the most EXPENSIVE apple phone] a 16mp camera of exceptional clarity [no blurring] PLUS a 'selfie' camera [?] of 13mp,Google browser,built-in Ad-blocker,auto-udate,Ccleaner built in...and its made of STEEL,not plastic. Ok,its larger than 'comfy' pocket-size [5.5" screen],but it's NOT wafer-thin,NOT about to bend,is waterproof [EU stats all met]....and it cost £87! Cor-take THAT,£1000+ Apple X!!!

Yes Spitty, and I see Debby Boone has teamed up to do a new recording with LED Zeppelin called “You Light up my Life”

Always interesting posts from Solo Sweetie, great variety, amusing and entertaining, all delivered in a natural flow, what more could you ask for, she’s a ray of sunshine.

You got a good deal there Pug, I was just checking them out on Aliexpress and the cheapest I see them at is 159 dollars, I wouldn’t use a mobile but the wife has one. The steel case sounds an attractive feature, I think those plastic ones might be made of second hand recycled plastic and are inclined to crack or split easily, there is a difference you know, I was reading about it, hope you enjoy it.

The Chinese got wise to our old plastic
The comebacks were something drastic
“We don’t want any more of your trash
Cos our phones just smash
Sorry for being sarcastic”

.....am I on the wrong forum, the wrong planet,or merely overdoing the drugs?
This forum seems to have de-escalated into a somewhat 'bitty' collection of non-continuity of subject...
Hmm...I shall have my butler look into it....

Re: Leisurely Scribbles (part 5)

Ok....continuing in that vein....this is a photo of the very first ship I went to sea aboard. Joined her as a deck-boy on my 15th birthday, having run away from the home I was at that time forced to endure [the last of 71] Her name; RMV Rothesay Castle.
I have got GREAT affection for this vessel. T'was on board her,I learned the difference between ropes and halyards, between a Turks Head & a Monkeys Fist, how to reeve, achieved my steering ticket AND watch tickets, plus learned to box the compass to 64 points in less than 30 seconds. Ahh,happy daze.

Re: Leisurely Scribbles (part 5)

Ok let's stick to a topic as Mr Pugsy suggests:

yes I can see that our mate Pugsy has definitely mastered and earned his steering ticket and definitely boxed the compass to 64 points in less than 30 seconds. who's that all in orange Pugs??

See, I don't mind a bit of chaos, entering the Troglodyte phase may be interesting, it would certainly "Focus" the mind.

Re: Leisurely Scribbles (part 5)

Pug is this the same Rothesay Castle that was left stranded on Islay? and more to the point were you involved ?

As for mobile phones. I have one somewhere, a gift, still boxed where it stays unloved and unwanted flat batteried and all.. Perhaps if I had been sailing on the Rothesay Castle I may have found it useful knowing that the Captain planned on dumping us on some remote island in Scotland but as I never had that experience we will never know simply because I get sea sick just turning the page of a Tristan Jones sea faring novel.
