Re: Is Brexit over ??

Hi

The devil is in the detail.

Our Trade with the EU is very different to our Trade with the rest of the World.

Imo that is the main point of leaving !!
This so called deal should only be used as a stopgap, and not be
used as an excuse for importing even more EU crap !!

I couldn't agree more!
Money talks.
In fact no; it shouts - screams in fact.

With supermarkets alone I can't see the avaricious bu@@ers taking long before they see the potential and we see cheaper things appear from all over the world.

Not a snowball's chance in hell!

The first one to raise prices will suffer hugely - even now, with restrictions!
Unless there are global shortages, of course.

Look: lots of fruit comes from outside the EU anyway; veg too.
Trade deals could make lots of this cheaper but even without these, things like Israeli & South African oranges are much cheaper outside the EU because of their protectionist stance favouring Spanish oranges which puts tariffs and limits on imports.
Oh and we know about sugar too, don't we?
There are lots of examples but TBH I think we should soon be seeing more choice and cheaper prices.

That doesn't take into consideration "shrinkflation", Zaph. It's been happening for ages now, the latest reported being Nutella, jars of which have shrunk from 425g to 350g.

Oh we know about "shrinkflation" - but that's a mixture of marketing and increasing or maintaining profitabilty.
People are more wise to it nowadays too.

Where is Nutella made, and who by?
The supermarket alternatives are often at least equal in quality, contain more product and are far, far cheaper.
Which do you think a disatisfied consumer on seeing such shrinkage is going to buy most often?
