Re: Sky News ...

Hi

I find it worrying that some would try to control our mainstream media to fit in with their own views.

And yet you've made no comment regarding the very blatant attempts at for example Sky and the BBC to pursue a policy which has done just that, regarding not only Brexit but Covid?
There are others too - like C4 news.

That is why so many are complaining and it is why such channels are losing so many viewers, yet despite this they persist in promoting their own blatant bias.

Bread ??
Why should that worry you?
We're not being asked to invest money. It's simply a matter of do you want to watch it or not?
I shall certainly watch it as soon as it becomes available. It's bound to be less biased than the BBC, Sky and Channel 4.

GB News trying to control our MSM?

How can they control BBC and Sky?

They can compete, and whether they succeed depends upon their audience.
I suspect that many viewers of BBC News and Sky News will watch it, compare it to what they have been watching, and probably choose to watch GB News in preference.

Talk Radio was banned by Youtube the other day because of the criticism from Julia Hartley-Brewer over the handling of COVID and the lockdowns etc. Its a prime example of cancel culture of big tech to shut down any discussions over an alternative view than that of their own. Now Twitter bans Trump - the elected leader of the free world, now "cancelled" because Twitter doesn't like what he said. The thing is, is that I don't agree with what Trump said either but that is no reason to censor free speech from the platforms that big tech provide for it. In fact, Trumps insurgence can't be cured by banning him from Twitter as they seem to think, but the alternative views must still be heard as a fundamental right to have freedom of speech. If you don't like it, don't read it or don't watch it, or even better, create and argument for your views and have that debate. It's the privilege of being a sovereign person, living in a democracy with freedoms of the press, assembly and speech etc.

The BBC, Sky News, Channel 4, Channel 5 are all poitically biassed, its silly to ignore this fact, but so will GBTV. The difference with GBTV is not because of its views, it's because it provides a different view from the rest of the channels. It provides balance and an opportunity to hear the other side of the debate, not left wing echo chambers dog whistling to minority groups that most people don't care about.

In the USA last year, the most popular news channel was Fox - not CNN or CNBS or any of the lefty channels, it was a right wing one. But there again, Fox is just about the only right wing channel there is over there, so its not surprising. My point though, is that we need balance not one sided monologues from the MSM who won't allow us to hear any other viewpoint and keep telling us what is right and what is wrong. What the MSM need to realise is that while they were so fixated on Trump being bad, they were blinded by the fact that we are being dominated by China.

---- end of rant

I completely agree with your rant, Bread.

It's all about free speech, and how more and more organisations are trying to prevent it: YouTube, MSM, Facebook, etc.
I visit Facebook regularly, and have seen many posts removed for having said 'the wrong thing'.
Even one of mine was deleted several weeks ago and I received a warning, threatening to ban me. The reason: I used the word 'pikey'!

Well, l would question why any rich person would want to invest a
considerable quantity of money in a media company?
What are his/her motives to do this?
The only reason l can come up with, is to influence public opinion?
The next question l would ask is, in what way do they wish to influence
public opinion?

Those are my reasons for doubt JBR !

Donkeyman! 👍👍

PS. I WILL definitely watch it too!!

Those are my reasons for doubt JBR !
Perhaps it's simply that they dislike how the left-wing organisations (via BBC, etc) are trying to influence public opinion and they would like to swing the existing left-leaning persuasiveness further to the right.

That's certainly how I see things anyway. We need a balance. At present, most of our media seem to be pushing left-wing opinions. We need at least one competitor to push right-wing opinions in an attempt to balance things out.

I would add that no-one will ever brainwash me, despite the usual suspects trying to do so. I make up my own mind and form my own opinions.

Unfortunately, there are many people out there - good people - who are more easily swayed. They are the ones that the BBC & others prey upon.

It's not people like us we have to worry about, its the easily influenced. We see this already with the SNP trying to convert children to their cause by offering them free stuff and reducing the voting age. Universities are the same with university professors indoctrinating students with marxism and socialism.

Fortunately, young people have the common sense to watch Netflix instead of the BBC and Sky - its also cheaper for them
