I disagree.

Our 'friends' across the Channel have systematically killed off our fishing resources until they are in danger of becoming as extinct as those in the Med and other waters.

Whilst our own fishermen are rebuilding their abilities, our fish stocks will have the time to restore their numbers.

After that, we can fish in a controlled way to preserve our fisheries. If we should catch more fish than we need ourselves, the surplus can be sold to other countries.

In short, we should not permit any other country to fish in our waters.

Leave the EU with no deal.

EDIT:
Please examine this chart showing fish types and numbers assigned to UK and EU each of the following five years.

Re: Sky News ...

There increasingly seems to be complaints of bias from all sides

Maybe people are confusing "bias" with "selfishness"

Sorry, l can't read the chart even on max magnification JB!
I agree with all you say about our friends across the ditch but l don't
think it is advisable to just cut off their access in one fell swoop
although this may be justified, as that would cause un-necassary
friction. !! Apparently we are now in charge of arranging all fishing?
regulations etc so we could start with a reduction in overall quota's
( based on scientific data of course!) to allow fish stocks to recover,
and at the same time set up an office for the issuing of the new UK
Quota/permit system ? If we are in charge we must be seen to be !!

If the overall quotas are significantly smaller then it won't be economical for the super trawlers to fish anyway. This means more fish for smaller boats.

Until I can find somewhere that states the total quotas and that they are based on science and zonal attachment instead of the theoretical total number of fish that were in our waters in 1974 (the CFP quota allocation) I'll keep an open mind.

Sorry. Yes, the numbers are small and difficult to read. Also, I don't understand the chart fully. For example, Norway is included in the first column, but not mentioned in the percentages, and I don't know what 'bycatch' means.

Anyway, I have copied the important figures (1926 onward) here:

That makes sense and, after all, it is the supertrawlers which seem to be doing the most damage to our fish stocks.

Sky news are now doing non stop promotion of the EU vaccination program.

Somebody needs to tell them they are celebrating failure.

Re: Sky News ...

Hi

70% of the fish in our waters we do not eat, we are cod, haddock and plaice people.

We need to export the rest and it is worth far more fresh than frozen.

According to the chart I posted in another thread*, the proportion of fish we have agree to catch after the reductions by 2026 include:
Cod = 57.00%
Haddock = 84.17%
Plaice = 28.46%

It seems that EU countries like Plaice more than we do!
