I understand that.

What I don't understand is that the media, and our Governments, never, really, seem to dig into why those Countries get into, and remain in, such bad situations.

What should we do?

Should we continue to moan about all of those migrating towards a better life or should we, as a country, be demanding better management of those Countries, out there.

The Charities are, obviously trying to do what they can.
In response to this portion of your post, I think we need to dig a bit deeper, as from what I can make out the EU are calling the shots again... unless I am misunderstanding.

Migration and Mobility. :

FOURTH EU-AFRICA SUMMIT
2-3 APRIL 2014, BRUSSELS
ROADMAP 2014-2017

https://www.consilium.europa.eu/media/21520/142094.pdf

36. The Brussels summit adopted a Joint Declaration on Migration and Mobility and
agreed to implement an Action Plan for the period 2014-2017. In line with this
declaration, we will foster synergies between migration and development, including
by reducing the costs of remittances, enhancing the role and engagement of the
diaspora and consolidating the African Institute for Remittances. We will better
organise intra and inter-regional labour mobility and that of business persons. We will
enhance our cooperation to address trafficking in human beings, notably by
strengthening partnership and cooperation on prevention, protection and prosecution.
We will also cooperate on irregular migration, addressing all its relevant aspects,
including strengthened migration management, return and readmission as well as the
promotion of alternatives to irregular migration. Finally, we will cooperate together in
the field of international protection and asylum, and will work together towards
promoting respect of the human rights of migrants.

37. Our cooperation will be underpinned by a Migration and Mobility Dialogue steered by
a core group of European and African countries and organisations meeting on a regular basis.

And all this from an organisation that just wanted countries in the group to trade with each other....

Check out Rio Agenda 21. It's not as benign as it seems or as it's being spun.

I assume that this will not apply to the French then?

Thus, although we don't always know it, we are very lucky.

Others, out there in the world, also have the luck of the draw when they are born, into Africa, the Middle East, wherever.

Some are very unlucky indeed as starvation, poor medication, poor education, etc., are the available options.

With our NIMBY thinking, we want to stop them coming our way.

I understand that.

But, how much do our countries attempt to get it right.

I know that some will say that we put lots of money out towards those countries - but I'm very suspicious that that is really only kicking the can up the line. I also think that most of it goes to those who don't help.

How about a World Organisation that has power to jail those leaders who wreck their Countries?

We've all seen lots of those!

Just a thought/rant.
It's not "NIMBY thinking" to NOT want our country transformed (and not in a good way) in a short period of time by uncontrolled mass immigration.

Labour didn't tell the country they were going to do this. And no one voted for it.

His was a vision of trade between European countries, not a political system that controls and dominates the member countries.

Shame on you that a continental has to tell you this!

While cautious about British involvement, Churchill was alert to the risk of Britain being left behind. Speaking in July 1951 he warned of “disadvantages and even dangers to us in standing aloof”, expressing regret that Britain had not joined discussions about establishing a European army (an initiative he had proposed in Strasbourg the year before). He also underlined his hope that Britain would join the European Coal and Steel Community.

Churchill did not share the preoccupations of today’s eurosceptics with national sovereignty. He disassociated himself from European federalists, but stressed some form of political unity would be required. He did not shrink from addressing the implications should Britain opt to participate. As leader of the opposition in the Commons in 1950, he indicated that both the Liberals and the Conservatives were “prepared to consider, and if convinced to accept, the abrogation of national sovereignty, provided that we are satisfied with the conditions and the safeguards”. It is impossible to imagine a Tory leader saying this today.
