Thanks Tabby. The trouble is that sometimes the person you are trying to get through to is pointless

No wonder he's looking for Peppa Pig cartoons.

How can everybody say it is "worth watching" when we all have different tastes in films?
Of course, we all have different tastes in films Floydy and I have enjoyed the films. My children grew up when Star Wars films were hugely popular and they collected a lot of the merchandise/gear that went with the films. My son saw all the films and he has fond memories of that period of his childhood. Now his own son likes Star Wars and my son enjoys playing with him. Star Wars is not simply a collection of sci fi/space fiction, there is a message there as well, which most adults will easily recognise. May the force be with you

Re: Star Wars - The Empire Strikes Back

Empire Strikes Back (ESB) was most certainly the best of the original 3 films.

In its day Star Wars just blew everything else away with it's special effects especially the epic space battles. ESB provided much more of what SciFi fans wanted at that time. It's a great film.

That said it is still Star Wars. Essentially a B Movie like Independence Day.

I personally crave far more depth in my films so although Star Wars has its place in the SciFi world and always will have, I prefer films like Bladerunner or The Matrix. Films with twists and hidden meanings set in distopian settings. Oblivion is another good film, with good twists.

As is clear, the senile types will struggle.
