Covid in Scotland: Rise in rental bookings for illegal parties
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-55932645Call logs obtained by BBC Scotland show that sites like booking.com were used to hire space for large gatherings over the festive period.
Police were given the power to break up house parties contravening social gathering rules on 28 August last year.
Since that date, officers have been called out nearly 7,000 times. However, the force has suggested the number is likely to be greater as house gatherings are typically under-reported.
Under-reporting can occur if officers were not assigned, or attended several hours later and did not enter the premises.
10's of thousands of morons in Scotland - so, at a guess, there'll be 10 times that number in England .....

Good grief, I can scarcely believe it. I know the world seems to be well populated with covidiots, but I honestly didn't realise the problem was quite as enormous as that! And yes, sadly you're probably right Omah - the number must be multiplied many times in England. It really does beggar belief.While so many of us are trying our hardest to follow guidelines, avoid contact with the outside world as much as is humanly possible, and then this.
If there is a higher being somewhere in the universe s/he must be shaking their head in utter despair.

Lancashire Police said 38 people were each fined £800 because the gathering was more than 15 people.
"I think there were about 50 to 70 students, we caught 38 but the others climbed out of windows," he said.
Mr Woods said the flat owner would get a "substantially larger fine".
If they don't pay up then bang 'em up .....

Fifteen people were issued with fines at the address in Alderley Edge, where police also found balloons and alcohol.
Cheshire Police revealed Saturday night's raid alongside details of 685 fines issued since the latest lockdown began.
The force said a minority were "blatantly breaching restrictions".
A spokesman added 116 on-the-spot fines were handed out in one weekend for similar offences.

Personally I feel the people who are letting the public book the places to hold the parties are more to blame, but money talks. Not that I agree with the ones trying to book. Silly, selfish, arrogant, ignoramas's the lot of them. Punishment is what's needed not fines.|
