Hi MKJ Room 101 is a television programme hosted by Paul Merton or Frank Skinner, i'm not sure which channel it's on, but they drop the object that's supposed to represent the thing you hate into a hole and it's gone forever....
Sue, I love Paul Merton. Going to see him again in Glasgow in May. Also saw Frank Skinner last year. It was a great programme. Makes you think about things that really irritate you. Great thread!

Hi again Alice I love the dry sense of humour that Paul Merton has and his quick wittedness

No it isn't! They may have usurped the name but Room 101 is from the book "1984" It's the name of the torture chamber in the Ministry of Love. It is where the Party attempts to subject a prisoner to his worst nightmare to break down their resistance.
Its the place where they get rid of 'bad' thoughts
Spitting in the street (I hardly ever do it any more)
Swearing as part of "normal" speech
Over-use of public mobile phone conversations - of course
People who dress dogs up as children
Starting sentences with "so"
Reality shows
Salt soaked bacon
People who coo "ah bless" at anything over 60s might say
and much, much more ........
