It is much simpler than Imperial. You mention the unit of length, the metre. That's the only unit. Yes, we have
multiples of it. Not different units. Not yards, feet, inches, links, chains, furlongs, leagues, nautical miles, cubits.......etc..
Then in my field, electrical engineering, there are no Imperial units for Amps, Volts, Ohms, just SI.
There are only two countries in the world that are not officially SI. Myanmar (was Burma), and USA. I correspond quite a lot with US people in the electrical field and many are convinced that they will eventually GO the SI route. Makes international trade simpler.
Scyooooooz ME,Bes...but I at NO point stated the SI system didn't exist. I said WE,every 'over 50' here, were taught in IMPERIAL measurements. Now-before you go all "Oh I work with electricity" on me-I work with physics. ERGO,I have HAD to learn and SIMPLIFY the 'metric system'...because there is NOT,as you state,'just the one measurement and multiples of it' [or some words like that] Because just like ANY other measurement, several external forces and commissions have effects on ANY [standard measurement',be it length, width, weight, height or speed. I bloody HATE this Mac Pro thing...so I'm gonna bugger off now and let you rip me to bits...I don't give a flying one-the rapidly escalating pain coupled with this poxy apple laptop have ensured that. So...ta-ra.
