That followed by setting out the consequences of failure to abide by those responsibilities limiting the rights that they are then entitled to.
Tend to agree in principle. However, the problem then arises when someone if found guilty by foul means, who then fall into the category of losing those rights.

I agree that the death penalty should be automatic for terrorism.
When their only aim is to murder innocent people en masse, why should we have to feed and clothe them for ever more.

The usual arguments remain valid....miscarriage of justice, info provided by terrorist as a plea bargain, avengeance for a martyr...

I always remember the words of George W, after 9 11. He said that any country harboring terrorists would be punished. I think we should have been bombed several times over by now.

It seems to me that the UK, being such a soft touch, is becoming the first choice for criminals, terrorists and anyone simply wanting summat for nowt.

Somehow, I don't imagine that we'll change.

Re: We are our own worst enemy again

I can't understand this, Australia is a signatory to the Human Rights convention but we still remove citizenship and deport convicted terrorists.

We also deport people (at the end of their sentence) who are convicted of a crime which results in over 12 months prison.

The latter has caused some friction between Australia and the land of the long white cloud but there is no move to change this.
