Good point. It's nice to know that we are still leading the world in at least one respect.

Gibraltar.
And a reasonable summary from the BBC.

"As part of the UK's exit from the EU, the UK and Spain have agreed in principle that the land border will go, possibly within six months, but the terms of the deal first have to be made into a formal treaty with the EU"

' Gibraltar's chief minister, Fabien Picardo, describes the agreement as creating "a common travel area between Gibraltar and the rest of Schengen".

"This is a little like the juxtaposed controls that you would see at St Pancras station when you're going on the Eurostar. You'd go first through British passport control. And then a few steps later you'd go through the French passport control. That is exactly the set-up of what we propose should happen if the European Commission agree, and we elevate our pre-agreement into a treaty." '

"London resilient at top of European tech investment table despite COVID"

"Start-ups and growth companies attracted $10.5 billion worth of funding, accounting for more than a quarter of all investment into Europe and three times the level in Paris, Berlin and Stockholm, the research found."

"The British capital is also home to more unicorns - start-ups with a valuation exceeding $1 billion - than anywhere else in Europe. At 43, it has more than Paris, Berlin and Amsterdam combined, according to the research."

Re: Thank God We are Out of the EU ...

Who remembers the insinuation from remainers that a Biden presidency would equate to looser USA/UK ties?
It looks increasingly like that was another mistaken remainer supposition according to The Telegraph:

"Joe Biden believes a patched-up relationship with Boris Johnson will help to decide the "destiny of the world" as the president-elect is set to head to the UK for his first foreign visit outside of North America, sources have told the Telegraph.

A close friend of Mr Biden said the leaders will bury differences over Brexit as British officials said they expected the UK to be one of the first foreign destinations, in what would be a major diplomatic coup for Mr Johnson."

Re: Thank God We are Out of the EU ...

More from The Telegraph with this, about the UK's ambitions in space:

"Ministers have big plans for the domestic sector, which currently rakes in around £15bn-a-year for the UK. It has trebled in size since 2000 and holds just over 5pc of the global space economy with around 42,000 people employed.

Within the next decade, politicians hope to double Britain's global market share of the worldwide space industry to 10pc, which would equate to over $60bn a year, according to figures from Morgan Stanley."

"The government is trying to place the UK to be at the global forefront of small satellite launch and space tourism market by developing a series of spaceports throughout the country that will be operational in the early 2020s.

One site that has potential is Cornwall. Next year, the airport will be expanded to a new spaceport capable of supporting so-called horizontal launches, in which a plane flies a rocket up to 35,000 feet above the planet."

"Cornwall's new space port isn't built yet but space companies are already flocking to the area, Thorpe says. It's the same story in the Shetlands, where giants like Lockheed Martin are already lobbying to book in launch slots and bring Britain back into the space race."

I think there will be a few raised eyebrows because what Biden has done is resurrect the Obama administration and they will remember all too well, Boris' comments to Obama when he complimented him on his Kenyan ancestry

I wouldn't count on Biden changing the habit of a lifetime and actually doing something either. Besides he has less of a majority than Obama and in the 8 years he was in power the only thing he managed to do was the disastrous Obamacare.

Biden can't remember that far back without being told or prompted.

Times have changed since Obama.
Besides, the EU have just done a deal with China that suggests they oppose or at least ignore the USA's stance (and much of the worlds too) on Chinese agression and human rights transgressions.

Biden can't change much, just as Trump couldn't.
BUT the appetite of American business is likely to favour the UK far, far more than the EU as we're seeing with the ongoing trade disputes and tariff battles.
What chance that spat being resolved quickly just because Biden is POTUS, do you think?
Unlikely you must agree.

Biden is recreating 2010

The EU and the USA have never got on very well, but we ave always shared more common values with the USA than the EU has. We have the same language, laws etc already and share the same ethics.

With the UK deregulation it opens up a world of opportunities for us.

Richard Branson's Virgin Space has already proved the concept and put satellites into orbit: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-55699262

Wasn't there a rumour doing the rounds some time ago that our spaceport could be built on mainland Scotland rather than on Shetland?
