Re: Trump - The Long Goodbye

Trump’s imminent departure from the White House makes him vulnerable to lawsuits and investigations

https://www.independent.co.uk/voices...-b1695477.html

Trump is the subject of 15 inquiries, criminal and civil, by nine federal, state and district agencies into his business and personal finances, including his tax affairs, his campaign, his inaugural committee, and charities associated with him.

Many of these are on track to go ahead separately. But because of the egregious nature and scale of Trump’s alleged offences, there have been calls for a special commission to examine the evidence. Eric Swalwell, a Democrat congressman from California, said: “When we escape this Trump hell, America needs a presidential crime commission. It should be made up of independent prosecutors who look at those who enabled a corrupt president; example one, sabotaging the mail to win an election.”

There have been reports that Trump may pardon himself before leaving office. It remains unclear whether he can do so constitutionally and the issue came up during the confirmation hearing for Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court.

But even if he could carry out the unprecedented act by a president of pardoning himself, he would still be susceptible to the state and local charges he is facing. One, by the US Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York, cited Trump (“individual 1”) in the charges laid against his former personal lawyer Michael Cohen over campaign finance crimes related to hush-money paid to women, one of them Stormy Daniels, who allegedly had affairs with Trump.

Cohen, who pleaded guilty to the charges, had claimed under oath that Trump had directed him to make the illegal payments and that he was reimbursed for the payments by the Trump Organisation. The former lawyer, now bitterly estranged from Trump, has predicted his former boss “may soon be the first president to go from the White House straight to prison”.

Re: Trump - The Long Goodbye

Donald Trump has sacked Defence Secretary Mark Esper, announcing on Twitter that the top US official has been "terminated".

Christopher Miller, the current head of the National Counterterrorism Center, will take on the role immediately.

It follows a public falling-out between Mr Trump and Mr Esper in recent weeks.

Mr Esper clashed with the president over the White House's attitude to the military during protests over racial injustice earlier this year.

As protests rocked the US following the death of black man George Floyd at the hands of police in Minneapolis, Minnesota, in May, Mr Trump threatened to use troops to suppress unrest.

In June, Mr Esper, a former army officer, said the use of active-duty forces was unnecessary, in remarks that were known to have displeased the White House.

Following the clash, it was widely-speculated that the president would fire the defence secretary, although on Monday Mr Trump gave no reason for his dismissal.
Trump "The Grump" will, presumably, sack all but the sycophants in the forthcoming weeks .....

Hi

Trump seems set on causing Chaos both at home and abroad before he leaves.

This will be self defeating as it will impact on ordinary people.

If he wants to be returned in 2024 he is not going about it in the right way.

Re: Trump - The Long Goodbye

How can one person be the leader of such a large country with so many residents? That leader has not lived in all the States so will not understand the local peoples' needs. The country may have made money, but if all States were separate countries, that traded with the others, they could have still made money.

I hated the idea of becoming another USA, and that is why I voted for Brexit. I never had a problem with the Common Market, but when it changed to the EU I could see that we were destined to become a similar disaster to the USA.... and possibly led by another Trump who knew nothing about the needs of the UK!

Do a full investigation into voter fraud then decide on who the president is. A media appointment of Biden is not the answer, the legal process has to be followed and democracy upheld.

The majority decide the leader and we don't know who that is.

Isn't it strange how all of a sudden being a "democrat" means ignoring democracy and the law?

There is a reason the USA's General Services Administration hasn't yet called a definite result, and that reason is that the outcome is not yet definite.

Arizona is just one example of vote counting alone: an estimated 65,000 votes are still to be counted & the lead so far is only a margin of under 15,000 votes.
Pennsylvania an estimated 127,00+ votes still to be counted with a far narrower lead.
Quite a few more too.

Then there are the other matters .................

Re: Trump - The Long Goodbye

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/w...-b1720186.html

Trump has accused the Democratic Party and the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) of conspiring to delay the announcement of Pfizer and BioNTech’s potential coronavirus vaccine until after last week’s election, which he ultimately lost to Joe Biden.

Mr Trump, whose campaign has said the word “concede” is not in its vocabulary as it vows to press ahead with legal challenges in key states, used Twitter to attack his opponents and the drug’s manufacturer for not having the “courage” to break the news before last Tuesday’s ballot.

Mr Biden has meanwhile been labelled an “ambulance chaser” on the social network by Fox News pundit Mark Levin in a tweet that was shared by the president, who complained the victor “had nothing to do with the vaccine” but was cheerleading the news. That came after Pfizer lambasted Mr Trump over the White House attempting to take credit for the breakthrough without playing any part in its development.
How low will Trump go ..... he incapacitates 9,000,000 US citizens, kills another 250,000 then attempts to steal the credit for a possible vaccine .....

And that's just for starters.
He still can do much more before he leaves.
A dangerous and vindictive man IMO.
