I agree R1, there has always been a relationship between US and
UK, but unfortunately for the UK it has rarely been very special from
the UKs point of view?
As an example take WW2, when we recieved billions in us aid?
After the war uk had to pay all that (aid?) back!
Whilst USA went ahead and created the german MIRACLE by
rebuilding the devastated german nation, ( the cause of the war! )
I suppose they used our repayments to do this?
So there is a relationship yes!
I leave you to judge what sort it is?

Hi

Trump is in a trade row with Airbus.

The UK sold it's share of Airbus some time ago.

He has announced a 25% Import Duty on Malt Whisky.

Targeting the UK for something nothing to do with us.

Got to remember that the US has a huge population of voters from Ireland, Europe, Britain, Italy, and so on.

Each one of the mother countries has to be kept onside, in order to ensure that they vote the right way.

I think that you'll find that all of those home countries are under the impression that they have a special relationship.

Bit like we have Australia, New Zealand, etc ().

Trump probably googled "airbus", and found:

Located in North Wales, Airbus’ Broughton site assembles wings for the entire family of commercial aircraft, producing over 1,000 wings per year. Its activities include wing skin milling, stringer manufacture, full wing equipping and wing box assembly.
Filton is the other UK-based site for Airbus, with its engineering and research & technology groups responsible for wing design, landing gear and fuel systems design and testing; and manufacturing of components.

For trump wales is very near scotland (he might even think it is the same). Scots and scotch, enough for trump to base his decision on.

Re: Special Relationship

Hi

Special relationship?

Not with Trump.

He has unleashed the Turks on the Kurds, our allies in fighting ISIS.

The Kurds hold over 200 UK Citizens who went to fight for ISIS, they will be liberated.

Trump has said he is not bothered.

We simply cannot cope with that number of returnees.

They can blow themselves up only once. The problem resolves itself.

That's not funny, not when they target soft targets like school girls at pop concerts.

The US/UK special relationship.............The one France and most of Europe has envied and detested for 200 years, is about more than governmental interactions.

Apparently not a two way street, that relationship. As swimfeeders stated, trump isn't bothered.

Seems to happen often, little brothers thinking much of their bigger brother. Big brother not bothered.
