a bit heavy on the past tense.

I was brought up to speak English correctly, which has stood me in good stead over the years, especially as I have done a lot of public speaking.

‘Bin’? Oh no, l am definitely a ‘been’, (uttered like Mrs Hyacinth Bouquet!)

I also say, ‘bus’, not ‘buz’.

I agree - I loathe sloppy speech.

Regional accents are one thing - but sloppy speech sets my teeth on edge.

Being the highly educated person I am, I never use bin. I always say garbage can.....
