Solar Eclipse

Hi all, my Brother who's 68yrs who is a member of the British Astronomical Society is over in Norway in Svalbard at the Archipelago in the Arctic at a place called Barentburg he has just travelled across snow, on a snow mobile ridden by himself for 44 miles over this island to the Eclipse viewing point for tomorrow. There are Polar bears out there, and someone already has been attacked today from another group. I feel sorry for the man but i'm glad it wasn't him. He managed to text me earlier to say it was -15 degrees. I bet it's a lot colder tonight?

He's left me some special glasses to view it here in the Morning at around 9.30am

Will you be viewing it? If you do don't look directly at the Sun and don't wear Sunglasses...

Yes, I already know what not to do. I'll just have my curtains open and see the darkness descend, or go out to get my paper and witness it outside.

I don't have the glasses.

Re: Solar Eclipse

I remember when in about 1961? we had a eclipse and I was at school.
We all had to take a washing up bowl to school. We then filled them
with water and put them outside to watch the eclipse in the water.
Still bright but at least it didn't burn our eyes out.
I will be watching it tomorrow with me bowl of water

Re: Solar Eclipse

The bowl of water has been suggested recently.

Might get funny looks from my neighbours or passersby, if I were to do it!
