New Government Program

As some of you may know I'm about 100 days away from losing my job and entering forced retirement. A new government program has been announced where those displaced by foreign competition may be eligible for income supplements from our government so that we can be retrained for a new career. What's unique about this program is it's recognition toward folks like me that are less than two years away from eligibility for retirement benefits like social security. I would not be required to seek training but still get a weekly check until I hit age 62. Our impending fab shutdown has not yet been officially approved for these funds but negotiations are underway. The exciting additional part of the TAA program is medical coverage up to 80%. Since I lose my medical upon layoff this would be great for me. Crossing my fingers that it's approved.
