The double slit experiment.

Ok, settle down you lot, this is not posted in the cheeky chat thread. I know I risk this thread turning into smut & innuendo (hopefully ) but is anyone interested in quantum physics?

Re: The double slit experiment.

Very interesting (apart from the feminine hygiene ad )
I wish the guy had shown the slits and how they're positioned.
I'll look at the other videos later to see if they tell you.
Thanks for that, I learned something!

Yes, a fascinating subject, particularly how an electron apparently behaves differently when being observed.
Can anyone explain it? I certainly can't.

I don't think anyone can. Apparently scientists have been trying to work it out for years. There is just so much we don't yet understand. I liked that cartoon video though as it simplified it.

Isn’t this somewhat similar to Schrodinger’s cat?

Re: The double slit experiment.

They should try it with glitter
Glitter behaves like no other particles of matter known to man
I bet glitter would cover the whole board no problem
And end up in every crease and orifice of any stander-by or observer
Glitter doesn't discriminate
It laughs in the face of wave pattern

Not quantum math but try Tesco just after little school is let out, tiny particles moving in a random way. Brownian motion.

Re: The double slit experiment.

Each person generates their own magnetic field, perhaps this is the reason that they behave differently if the 'observers' are in 'relatively close' proximity to the experiment and are affecting the electrons behaviour.
