Marian with an A is female, Marion with an O is male ...a school friend (female) used to get mail addressed to MariOn all the time; drove her mad! Those androgynous names are tricky: Leslie, Noel, etc ......

Was he ever married?, I seem to remember reading something about his son stopping him from shooting himself when he had cancer, he was very fond of guns in real life.

This is true I have met Lesley's and Leslie also Alex male and female but I don't think I have ever met a male Marion. Today there are so many odd names kids will probably not bully a Romeo or a Brooklyn but in my day even my name Catherine caused me a few blushes.

That's so true about unusual names: quite common in the African American community here; actually it's so common they're really not really unusual these days. Times do change.

PPHammer was an old amiga computer game that I was hooked on. Seems a very primitive game now.
