Film: A Very British Christmas

Did anybody else see this on Sunday afternoon?I think it was channel 5. It was only filmed last year so thought I would watch it.

It was about a beautiful (of course) American woman who happens to be a famous soprano en route to Vienna for a concert. She gets stuck in a Yorkshire village and ends up staying in a holiday lodge owned by a handsome widower with a small daughter.

It was a load of twaddle actually because everybody had strong Yorkshire accents except the hero who sounded like an Essex boy and was completely wooden.

She had two small cases with her at the railway station but seemed to have an endless supply of cozy jumpers, festive hats and scarves for the British Xmas weather.

The only good thing about the film was some lovely Yorkshire scenery. Every single scene though was filmed on deserted streets so not very realistic.

We get that a lot. Emmerdale for example, is dotted with Southerners and Lancastrians. Evidently, any Northern accent will do, authentic or not.
