Re: TripAdvisor

I do check on TA but my son noticed something very odd.
There is a village near here with two pubs both serving very poor food and both have had dozens of rave reviews in the last year. I mentioned it to my neighbour who uses both of them for meetings (because they are equidistant between people with whom she works nothing more).
She assures me nothing has changed and both still serve poor food.

Could be the same reason Meg. A senior executive at one of the world’s biggest hotel groups admitted breaching TripAdvisor rules last year by posting dozens of glowing reviews about the firm’s properties and negative ones of its rivals.

Re: TripAdvisor

I do check trip advisor before booking anywhere especially if it is a coach trip, which we have also not booked because of bad reviews.

I put reviews on trip advisor when I have been away but say honestly what the problem was in my opinion. ie the room was looking tired, or we had a long wait for food but it was very busy.

You have to remember this is only one persons opinion at the time, I check what dates people where there as well and look at their profiles to see how many post they have done.

On the contrary if it was clean and ok in every other area I would say yes and hope to get the room at a reduced rate because of its reputation I don't believe in all that haunting nonsense .

You can usually tell when this is a deliberate ploy because all the rave reviews will probably be the only review ever posted by the individuals concerned. I am unlikely to take any notice of any review where the reviewer has only posted one review.
