Napoleon Tribute Act At It Again!

Read the following in today’s Sun newspaper. The pygmy, along with Remain cabinet members (and Theresa herself) must be running scared after putting these threats out.

QUOTE

France could shut Calais if we fail to pay our £39billion divorce bill in a No Deal Brexit, the cabinet heard yesterday.
It would hugely damage our economy by squeezing the crucial Dover-Calais trade route.

French leader, Emmanuel Macron could block a huge chunk of our food exports from his country.
And Brussels could ban our £3.5billion EU exports of animal goods such as meat and poultry, as well as organic goods, for six months.

That could mothball UK factories, see food left to rot and send farmers and small firms bust in weeks. Theresa May and ministers were told.

France could also delay trucks bringing vital factory parts here. A Cabinet minister said: “We can spend what we want to prepare on our side. But we’re powerless to compel the French to do the same. That’s a very serious vulnerability”.
There’s no alternative to Dover for just-in-time manufacturers or food exporters. They support a huge number of jobs. But we expect Macron will try heavy disruption in Calais to turn the screw on us to pay”.

Home Secretary, Sajid Javid is among ministers who fear the uncontrollable chaos of a Calais shutdown. He said: “France could triple its average 25-second border checks per driver, sparking huge Dover queues”.
Transport Secretary, Chris Grayling earlier said other British ports could be used, But another cabinet source said: He’s talking b…...s, There’s no workaround to Dover”.

UNQUOTE

Note the quote is from a rabid remainer, Javid. Would love to know just who the cabinet source is too! Here is what the Sun newspaper said in response to the above scaremongering from those terrified of us leaving with a no deal.

QUOTE

Clowns to the left of us, Jokers to the right!

On one side, Irish PM Leo Varadkar is more a comedian than he is a statesman, though it’s not a high bar to clear.

On the other hand, Emmanuel Macron, a Napoleon tribute act whose stature is matched only by his collapsing poll ratings - and who is using tough talk on Brexit to distract from troubles at home.

But Mini Manu’s threats ring hollow.
Does he honestly think French businesses will thank him if he brings a huge chunk of the £70billion-plus trade to a halt?

Does he honestly think French consumers are so annoyed about our decision to leave that they’ll want lorries blocking their motorways and supermarket shelves empty?

We have no desire for our Government to enter a trade war.
But Macron’s desire to wreak havoc on the UK’s economy as a Brexit punishment betrays the Continent’s fear that an unleashed Britain would leave the EU in the dust.

If Britain goes without a deal - and there’s every chance - then we will show Europe what they’re missing with tax cuts and a red tape bonfire that will supercharge the economy.
A sensible French leader would welcome a deal that works for both sides.

Time for l’enfant terrible to grow up!

Well, what do you think about that?

And your point being?? actually, HWMO buys the Sun, I buy the Daily Mail, both support fairness for Britain, unlike other papers.

Of course he could, he has and always had that power. But why should he exercise that power? Nowhere you can find such threats from him.
As long as the UK knows its place in the order of countries there is nothing to fear.

I believe this piece has deliberately been put out by Javid and "a cabinet source" to frighten people into pressurising their MP's into voting for any deal Theresa May brings back, regardless.
A clear case of Project Fear Mark 3.

No sensible person wants a no-deal, unless it is to the detriment of the UK, in which case we will have no choice but to walk away. Macron and anyone else in the EU should know that the British don't like being bullied.

You may be surprised by march 29. As a dutch politician said: the Brits are in the EU to make it not work. We are better of without them.
So yes, brexit will have repercussions for the Netherlands, but after brexit the remaining countries will be able to make the EU work.

When did I mention your country in this post Solasch?
I'm afraid there's not a lot I can reply to a stupid, ignorant comment from a supposedly intelligent
Dutch politician who states that the Brits are in the EU to make it not work!!!

Obviously sour grapes that we are leaving.

If it was really essential to keep the UK in, the french would close Calais, Antwerp would prioritize other goods over those for the UK, and so would Rotterdam, Gdansk, Wilhelmshaven. You need not be afraid of that.

I don't mind, I consider it clever negotiating. But preferential treatment of the UK (resulting in several opt outs that other countries didn't get) in the EU has caused a lot of bad blood. I noticed that is clearly underestimated on this forum and in the UK in general.
And don't bring up again the argument of net payers. Other countries do the same. The sourness of grapes could be the other way round.
