Re: Here Comes Boris' Deal

Considering all things, I think the Brexit supporters have behaved exceptionally well through all of this.
Things might change !

Jo Swinson has concocted a plot to oust JRM and other Brexiteers at the next election, by crowd funding.

How bad does it have to get. Time to pay tax on crowd funding for political reasons.

This is bad .

I've got concerns, about this deal, DM.

Like many, I feel that we have to get out, at almost any price, or we'll never get out at all.

Having read the new "deal" I am reminded of this old song:-

"Now Saturday came and the streets were just
lined with thousands and thousands and thousands of people.
And they all were cheering as the artillery came by, the infantry marched by,
the cavalry galloped by. And everybody was cheering like mad,
except one little boy. You see, he hadn't heard about
the magic suit and didn't know what he was supposed to see.
Well, as the King came by the little boy looked and, horrified, said:

"Look at the King! Look at the the King! Look at the King, the King, the King!
The King is in the altogether, but altogether, the altogether
He's altogether as naked as the day that he was born
The King is in the altogether, but altogether, the altogether
It's altogether the very least the King has ever worn"

Summon the court physician! Call an intermission!
His majesty is wide open to ridicule and scorn.

The King is in the altogether, but all together, the altogether
He's altogether as naked as the day that he was born
And it's altogether too chilly a morn!"

Re: Here Comes Boris' Deal

We could see the ERG reverse their support for the withdrawal bill today, if letwins bill gets voted through and it looks 50/50 for Boris' deal.

This would then put the country back in no deal territory ...

If the Letwin amendment passes it looks like the Government is going to pull the vote on the Withdrawal Agreement If that happens I hope Letwin and the remain alliance are pleased with themselves as Parliament will have been recalled on a fools errand to vote on more stalling by the MPs who wish to prevent our leaving the EU .

Good analogy Ted, I also believe that the new deal is all smoke and mirrors. Joe public didn't like May's deal so Boris has wrapped it up in different paper and offered it again....

You could be right there Meg.

That would put the cat amongst the pigeons....

Re: Here Comes Boris' Deal

Nothing good is going to happen with this parliament.

There are far too many factions in both the government and the opposition, each disagreeing with the others.

I'd be very surprised if we leave the EU at all until the next GE.

When we are given a GE, people must vote with their consciences. I sincerely hope that the majority vote out all the MPs who have done all they can to keep us in the EU.

Re: Here Comes Boris' Deal

Hi
It is all smoke and mirrors.

Nobody knows what will happen until we actually leave.

I simply do not agree with No Deal, none of the other G20 Countries operate solely on WTO Rules.

The other top economies in the World operate on simple WTO Free Trade Deals.

If they can do that successfully, so can we.

Out we go, with a simple Free trade Deal.

It is not impossible to finalise one by the end of the Transition Period.

Re: Here Comes Boris' Deal

Nigel Farage has a full page letter in Express.

This is not Brexit, not great, not new. Most a reheat of Theresa May's WA, which would imprison Britian under EU rules with no vote, no voice, no veto, no way out.

One difference is the dumping of Irish backstop which will free UK from customs union.
The reheated deal means UK will still be trapped under EU rules on everything from state aid to fishing. European courts can still overrule our laws, tying us to EU military and foreign policy.

We need a GE.

Re: Here Comes Boris' Deal

Hi

Much as I dislike Boris, he and others are very good debaters.

They are making a good job of it.

I am not a natural Tory Voter, but they are making mincemeat of the rantings from Corbyn and Co.

Some Labour MPs, who are supporting the deal, subject to certain guarantees, have made very relevant points in a reasonable manner.

Boris and Barclay have acknowledged that and agreed with them.

JRM and Gove, have obviously been told to keep quiet.

Unfortunately, the Labour Ranters have not.

The level of debate has been much higher than I thought it would be.

A welcome change from the mudslinging.
