Name Meshing

Whatever next, it seems folks are constantly looking for things to dabble with. Name converging, gender converging?.

Re: Name Meshing

Nothing new in business Paul, it has been going on for years.
But I have never heard people doing it in marriage, my name could have turned out as Wobble.

Re: Name Meshing

I seem to remember a period when name meshing was
de rigeur for new house owners. Gone were the Dunromins & Yertiz horrors & in came Brijan & Rosebob.

Re: Name Meshing

I don't think it would have worked in our case. My maiden name is French; people in the UK find it very hard to pronounce, and my married name is of Welsh extraction!

It can be quite sad too seeing old English names disappear.

Re: Name Meshing

Well meshing names together doesn't exactly preserve the originals does it ?

Re: Name Meshing

I think it does, it's sad to see any culture lose their old traditional names. My grandfather was a son of the son of the son of a toll keeper on a green in Kent, his surname was Tolhurst it meant something. I am quite sad that it ended with him but proud of taking my husbands name that also means something traditional.
