Re: Talking of cars ......
My Dad loved driving BIG cars, even though the speed limit in my island home is only 35 m.p.h. When he brought them over to the UK he could let rip a bit. The island's number plates only contain numbers, no letters. When over here he was stopped a number of times by the police who asked about his number plate. The cheeky man would tap the side of his nose and say that when you belonged to a certain family you didn't need letters in the registration! Thinking he was Royalty of some description, he would get red carpet treatment. He even got a police escort to his destination once as he was a bit uncertain of the route!Re: Talking of cars ......
A good number of years ago I had a Ford Fiesta, which I really enjoyed driving, until one day, as I turned right, the front passenger side wheel sheered off at a 90 degree angle. Thank goodness no one was behind me as I stopped dead. I had my Down's Syndrome son in the car with me, he was only a little boy at the time. The car was fixed, apparently it was a fault on some Fiestas. However I just couldn't bring myself to drive it again, and insisted on driving my husband's car until he bought me another one, a small Peugeot, if I remember rightly.Re: Talking of cars ......
You know, I had a Ford Fiesta do that too, only it was the the driver's side wheel turned at a 90 degree angle and I shot across to the other side of the road sideways. Fortunately I was going uphill on a quiet road, I had my young son and his friend in the back. We were on our way to sail their boats - never got there and I also refused to drive another one.Re: Talking of cars ......
Re: Talking of cars ......
I have two cars, one for pleasure and one to house dogs on the move. My pleasure car is a red, quite old Mazda MX5 which I treated myself to 18 months ago and I love it, although don't get to use it as much as I would like as always seems to have the dogs with me They drive in a Mitsubishi Space Star Equippe (grey hatchback) which is also a great car.Re: Talking of cars ......
I have the car I wanted as soon as I saw it......a red Chevrolet Matiz and I love it. Its very nippy and economical-costs me about £10 to go to Derbyshire and back! Although only a small car, I have put the back seats down and made it into a mini-estate for the Hatti girl. Had the car 3 years now and have never had any problems with it.......a good runabout car.Re: Talking of cars ......
