Re: Pain killers

I only take paracetamol, I used to take paracetamol with ibuprofen but it started to irritate my stomach which is quite common I believe. I'm not so sure about mind over matter especially with chronic pain.

I take painkillers very rarely as they have a strange effect on me. As it happens I needed to take 1 Co-Codamol this morning at 4.30 a.m for severe shoulder pain. To an extent it is mind over matter until the severe pain takes hold and then I really have to take one, it usually does the trick by putting me to sleep and that is why I am reluctant to take them. It takes hours until I stop feeling like a zombie.

Re: Pain killers

Usually 2 paracetamol and 2 ibuprofen together for something like a headache.

Since I suffered from bursitis in my thigh I often take codeine as well, but try to avoid it if I can.

Luckily I will be pill free for a few months as I'm having a steroid injection next week.

Re: Pain killers

I always take the lowest dose Deylon, I believe that by overdosing, your body will become immune the next time you use that particular painkiller. I've found that 200mg of Ibuprofen are working well just lately. But I use them sparingly, mainly at night because a good nights sleep is important for recovery from most injuries and illnesses.

Re: Pain killers

I've never liked taking tablets. I think mostly i just tell myself it'll get better.
I thought i'd broken my shoulder a few weeks ago, after a fall. But after an Xray my doctor said it was only arthritis and gave me a prescription for paracetamol, It's sat there on the table for over a week........
My shoulder is still hurting, maybe i should take something.

At the top of my arm just below the bone and down the back of my arm too. I find it difficult to get my right arm into my coat sleeve. Annoys the life out of me apart from being painful.

Re: Pain killers

DHC continuous 60mg, twice daily, but I did stop the morning dose, which was bloody hard.
