Any ideas !

I was just thinking about a real old friend and wondered if anyone could help me in the right direction. He was in the Chestnut Troop, 1st Royal Horse Artillery back in about 1977 and last known was stationed in Yorkshire. He was actually from Sheffield and lived in Totley Brook Road ! that's all I know. Would be nice to know what became of him, wondered if anyone could give me ideas on how to start a search ?
thanks.

Hello Bev there is some information here on the Chestnut Troop RHA ...

http://webarchive.nationalarchives.g...tnut/index.htm

Unless you are a family member I am not sure if you can find out the details of your friend.
Anyway here are the details of the Army Records Office

Re: Any ideas !

You could try writing to a Sheffield newspaper with those details, our local paper often publishes letters from people who are searching for old friends or relatives.

I would agree with that, our local paper often has letters from people in America asking about many things including lost contacts. Of course we have two large USAF bases nearby.

Another place you could look is the 'electoral roll' website.

http://www.searchelectoralroll.co.uk/Default.asp

The basic search is free - you may have to pay for more detail such as telephone numbers etc.,
