They do not have the infrastructure and costs of crossings and time of crossing are greater.

We have to build more RoRo terminals here in the UK or offsite Secure Customs Areas.

Germany's economy relies on its manufacturing and the EU relies on Germany as its largest nett contributor. If German imports are impacted by UK tarrifs after Brexit it is not just the financial impact that will affect the EU it is the huge amounts of unemployment that will follow. I've heard figures of up to 1 in 7 Germans being out of work if there is a no deal Brexit due to the tarrifs imposed on German cars in particular.

I don't want to see German car exports go to 0% at all - my point is German car exports are the backbone of Germanys economy and if this gets affected, it impacts the whole of the EU.

The UK on the other hand can buy elsewhere - Germany needs to find new markets that do not exist and the ones they have are not buying their cars. Funnily enough the 2 countries USA and China take a share of the problem and neither have a trade deal with the EU.

Well, fancy that ...

I will take the kicking, will you?

As regards the Swiss Border.

Been stuck there for 17 hours because of paperwork.

This was a Government Contract, upgrades to security at UK Buildings in Switzerland.

Life is not as simple as you believe.

Which Swiss Border and which paperwork ,? Weil am Rhein and vat reclamation is my bet. In the 15 years I lived there I've only seen queues at the border for about an hour or two (max) when the lorries are claiming back vat or if there is a terrorism/ security issue where cars and lorries are searched . Never seen 17 hour queues though

I'll ask in the office

Hi

You do so.

An hours backup is a major issue at Dover.

One of us will be right, one wrong.

I will freely apologise to you if I am wrong.

I am on the list. called back in. but unable to go because of illness.

Others with the same Qualifications have just told Government to Sod Off.

Maybot reduced their pensions by 20%, such is life, they are not going back.

The EU are no idiots, they have offered 20% more for Certified Officers.

A 40% increase in salary, plus Pension Contributions.

Your livelihood is about to get trashed.

Good luck with that.

OK, just checked with the office regarding border delays.

If you were delayed for 17 hours then it was not recently, because nobody has heard of any queues at the French or German borders.

My guess is that your lorry / commercial vehicle had been flagged because you were either carrying something outside of the rules, doing something naughty or working on something that could be a potential risk.

The swiss borders are super efficient - just look at them compared to Calais / Dover. Look at how many times we have had to implement operation stack because of the French - we should use other ports instead. We don't have these problems for Belgium or Holland.

My livelihood won't get trashed at all - you're just buying into project fear and the c'est la bullshit

You are referring to the 2015-16 situation, after the paris terror attacks? That situation has downed now.
