Pig Farming

Just watching Springwatch .
Three sisters who breed pigs .
They take such care of the pigs they live in big open pens on straw .
The pigs look so happy .
I love pigs and it's a shame so many of these super intelligent animals are kept in horrible conditions.

Re: Pig Farming

I also believe pigs are a much maligned species, they
are brave, organised, socialy intelligent animals, in the
wild, they are considered,(by farmers ) to be destructive
of crops & fences, but imo they are just using their
intelligence to get access to food.
They are also, like most mammals, extremely protective
of their young as many who farm them will know.
I have seen film of a warthog boar taking on a
leopard, that was about to catch a young warthog and
driving it off.
Compare this to our cuurrent ruling classes.

Best Regards, Donkeyman.

Re: Pig Farming

Pig farming is massive in Asia though. Cruel bustards that also bury them alive if needs be, hundreds of them, all thrown in a pit together.
I think there is something wrong with the mentality of the Asians .
Mind, pig farming is pretty horrendous in many western countries too , one reason why I will never eat piggy.

Re: Pig Farming

Horrendous cruelty !

I sometimes think there is a gene missing in Asians for compassion to animals .

I had not known they did this to pigs and I am horrified .

This is a sentient intelligent being. I rarely eat pork and now will give it up altogether .

Re: Pig Farming

I stopped eating pork some years ago, when I realised how intelligent pigs are, as well as because of rearing conditions.

I stopped eating octopus, too, because of their intelligence.

I do like a bacon sandwhich or a nice joint of roast
Pork. But l must admit l never knew about throwing
Pigs, en masse into pits to die. What is their excuse
for doing this? Do they eat them afterwards?
Maybe this practice dates back in time to when humans
hunted by digging pits and driving or luring animals
into them. Maybe this practice has lingered on.
It is barbaric, and l may now give up pork and start
eating asian sandwiches. I believe you cant tell the
difference.

Re: Pig Farming

They had foot and mouth or swine fever or something.
It just a cheap way of deposing them .

Why? Apart from the terrible cruelty itself, what farmer throws his income away like that?
Don't get it?

Puddles, you say about the mentality of the Asians, well this is a perfect example.

Warning, best not open link if you don't want to be upset at how different species are abused.
