Electoral Disasters

Thought it might be an idea to have a list of perceived political gaffs on here from all sides of the political spectrum. If at all possible, please try to avoid debating any of them on this thread, as there'll be plenty of opportunities on other threadss.

1/. JRM - upsetting comments about Grenfell which makes the Tories look like uncaring toffs.

2/. Borrowing plans of Labour - admitting that taxes will have to increase.

3/. Borrowing plans of Tories, basically saying they'll borrow the same amount.

4/. Policy of Lib Dems ref article 50 - basically stating that if they get a majority (which usually means 35-40% of the electorate) given them a mandate to overrule the actual 52% of the electorate as indicated in the referendum.

5/. Labour claims that the Tories will cut a deal with the US with regards to the pharmaceutical industry, which will mean that ALL imported medicines from ALL countries will rise in cost, even though we only import 10% from the US.

6/. Labour's claim of a rise to £500 million being outsourced to USA for medicines stated as credible and demonstrable, even though the author(s) of the figures said that these figures were unreliable.

Best so far is the Brexit Party candidate deselected because she said she is an alien from Sirius and her horse has been reincarnated

Seriously see my other thread.

Re: Electoral Disasters

I can never remember an election quite like this one and we are only in the first week

I expect it will get nastier as the weeks go on...

Re: Electoral Disasters

How about adding Johnson's 40 new hospitals when the reality is 6 being refurbished?

Re: Electoral Disasters

This from a Lib Dem nutcase in Devon. Unsurprisingly, she has resigned.

A Lib Dem candidate has resigned after claiming people in her constituency voted Brexit because they were "white and don't know people from other countries”.

Kirsten Johnson, a pianist and composer, made the comments in an interview with BBC Radio 4 on Sunday afternoon, where she said North Devon voted for Brexit because it was "98 per cent white" and that "people aren't exposed to people from other countries, they don't travel a lot".

Re: Electoral Disasters

This election is a strange one, maybe historical stuff will have to be ditched, no pun intended.
