The State of the Economy.

Hi

Lockdown is having an effect

We are going into Recession.

None of us are immune.

The Triple Lock for Pensioners is no longer Relevant.

Plan for it.

Re: The State of the Economy.

Let's face it, these are unprecedented times in every way. It is impossible to predict what the results are going to be. Right now there's a lot of money to be made on the currency market but the question is if not currency then what. IMO (NOT gem stones) though I believe that there will come a time when gold will suddenly go through the roof.

After all there is a fixed quantity on earth and short of using a nuclear reactor it can't be made.

(Out of interest if ALL of the gold in the world was cast into a cube it would only be about 70 feet on each edge!)

All the gold in the world used to be in Fort Knox!
But they gave it all away!

Which equates to around 16 million tons, quite a chunk of change...

Re: The State of the Economy.

If it is any comfort just about every western economy is on life support.

Australia will go into recession (if not a depression) for the first time in 30 years and unemployment is predicted to go from 5% to be 11%. Just a recession would be a good result but a depression beckons.

As for gold? Australia grows its own.

Re: The State of the Economy.

Hi

Do not underestimate the effects of this.

Nobody will be immune.

Dividends are not being paid, Pensions will be affected.

State Pensions are paid out of Tax Income, which has collapsed.

Nobody will be immune from this.

I have insurance on my private Pensions.

So what, the Insurers do not have enough money to pay out.

Life will be different now.

It will affect all of us.

Re: The State of the Economy.

People need to be careful with understanding "economy" and words such as recession and especially the use of GDP to establish anything.

To get a better picture check out the Treasury red and blue books and at all times beware of "Stagflation". If that starts to raise its ugly head then run for the hills.

Re: The State of the Economy.

It's a racing certainty that while pensions are unlikely to greatly reduce in terms of numbers the Sterling buying power will.
