Nice one In reality, most modern combi's nowadays should be manufactured to a high standard and last more than 5 years. There are certain makes of boiler that, in the past, I wouldn't touch with a barge pole, especially Saunier Duval and Ocean - mainly because they were cheap, nasty, prone to leak/break down and a pain in the 'arris to work on.However, times have changed and they have become more reliable. The main reasons why I like Vaillant is ease of maintainance and reliability. I always found the modern WB's horrible to work on.

The worcester Bosch is so far so good and their accredited fitter was fabulous. Came out between Christmas and New year to change the boiler. Turned out the vailant had been leaking at the condenser outlet so that it was impossible to spot where the water was going as it was turning to steam before you could spot it. But the water was gushing out because the guy who moved the expansion tank downstairs left the valve closed.

It's like everything else mate, you can buy a brand new car and it might break down in the first week. As long as the boilers are serviced every year, then there (hopefully) shouldn't be any problems.
