Rollmops are very popular in Germany (the name "rollmops" is German in origin) and Poland.

Re: Polish Food

I have never understood why pickled herring is not so popular in the UK. Is it just a Baltic thing? How can jellied eels possibly be more appealing?!.

Re: Polish Food

I don't know if jellied eels are popular today. it was survival food for London eastenders in days gone by, a bit like haggis in Scotland, more historical interest than culinary.

I see rollmops on the supermarket shelves but no jellied eels.

I have rarely felt more sick trying a new food than when I bought a tub of jellied eels out of impulsive curiosity. I can still feel my stomach churning.

Sainsburys went through a phase of stocking them.... another reason not to ever go there again.
