They certainly are in Oz. And they are causing problems here too. It's in their nature to hunt and that's what they do and it's not just mice and rats they hunt. They cause problems for gardeners too. But that's a different creature from the OP.

😂😂😂 No they don't hunt gardeners, but the gardeners have to contend with the cat's s**t. Not at all pleasant.💩

Put an empty ,clean coffee jar , or something equivalent in a corner of your room , near where the mouse is, keep away but watch, most times the mouse will run into the jar and you can quickly cover the top and carry it outside and release the mouse
